FOR THE LOVE OF CARS

A familiar shape.
A name on the tip of your tongue.

That is the feeling behind CarsGuess. A pair of headlights can bring back a childhood poster. A roofline can remind you of a car that used to pass your street. You do not need a dream garage to enjoy spotting the details.

CarsGuess is an independent photo guessing game. Choose Easy for familiar icons, Medium for less obvious models or Hard for unusual cars. Random car chooses a car from your selected difficulty, with five brand attempts and five fresh model attempts. No sign-up, no timer while you guess, and no need to know production figures by heart. Just look, think, and take your shot.

How to play

  1. Choose a difficulty and look at the photograph. Logos and model markings stay covered even in the enlarged view.
  2. Search for the brand first. You have five attempts to find it.
  3. A correct brand unlocks only its models, with five new attempts.
  4. Press Guess. Green checks show a matching country, make or model; grey crosses show a mismatch.
  5. The country appears after two brand attempts, or immediately when your guess matches it. Era appears after three model attempts and never filters the suggestions.
  6. Find the model to win. A skip uses one attempt in the current step; five misses in either step end the round.

Country means the marque’s country of origin, not the place where an individual car was assembled. Era describes the car generation pictured. The game accepts the make and model in the answer list; you do not have to identify an exact engine or trim.

A new car, whenever you want

Random car selects a car within your chosen difficulty. Finish a round and press Next car to play again. Your current round is saved in this browser, separately for Easy, Medium and Hard. Some familiar models have several generations: choose the version and years shown in the search list. The ranges identify a generation’s production or model years; you do not need to guess the exact year of the photographed car.

The garage lets you browse the collection and practise recognising the details. It contains answers, so save it for after your round.

Photos with a source

Every photograph has a recorded author, source and reuse licence. You can inspect those details on our photo credits page. The entire photograph is displayed during play; the expand button opens a larger view. Manufacturer and model markings are obscured in both views. CarsGuess is not affiliated with or endorsed by any car manufacturer.
